About the treatment
We recommend having a properly fitted sports mouthguard made at the start of each new sports season. In collaboration with TANDZORGLAB, we provide custom-made sports mouthguards designed to help protect the teeth and surrounding tissues from injury.
Ready-made mouthguards available in shops often provide less effective protection because they do not fit as precisely. A sports mouthguard should fit closely around the teeth and extend partially over the gums, helping to protect both the teeth and their supporting structures.
A custom-made sports mouthguard consists of two or three layers, depending on the type of sport you or your child participates in. This provides additional protection and can significantly reduce the risk of dental trauma. Injuries to the teeth can cause permanent damage and may range from a chipped or fractured tooth to the complete loss of one or more teeth.
Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth, which TANDZORGLAB will use to produce a custom-made sports mouthguard. The result is a precise, comfortable fit designed to provide effective protection during sport.

How long your sports mouthguard lasts depends on how much your teeth and jaw change over time.
- For adults, a custom-made sports mouthguard can usually be used for several years. We recommend having the fit checked every two years to make sure it still provides the right level of protection.
- For children, a new mouthguard is often needed every one to two years because their teeth and jaws are still growing.
After each use, rinse your sports mouthguard thoroughly with lukewarm water. Let it dry before storing it in a ventilated case. This helps keep the mouthguard clean and reduces the build-up of bacteria.
